PEACE OF MIND

Mastering Energy, Not Just Time

As I began to craft this month’s blog, I had a clear direction in mind. However, when I came across an insightful article from *Forbes*, it truly resonated with me, and I knew it was something I had to share with you all—with a Priceless twist. The piece explores a concept that feels more relevant than ever: *“Rather Than Managing Your Time, Consider Managing Your Energy.”*

In recent years, we’ve seen a surge in advice on time management. The demands of modern life, intensified by the global pandemic, have placed a premium on making the most of our minutes and hours. But Ricardo Sunderland offers a refreshing perspective—one that shifts the focus away from merely managing time to mastering our energy.

For decades, the emphasis has been on managing time because it’s quantifiable, but human energy is more abstract, less measurable. Sunderland says:

Time can be measured, while human energy is abstract and intangible. But there is a mindset shift emerging—one that sees everything as energy. By mastering our energy, we gain access to an unlimited source of it.”*

This approach taps into something powerful: it’s no longer just about achievement. People want to feel fulfilled, happy, and connected in their success. Sunderland argues that managing our energy—physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual—is key to this fulfillment.

 The Four Dimensions of Energy

Sunderland outlines how energy isn’t a singular force. There are different forms—physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual—that are all interconnected. When these energies are in harmony, we experience flow. He suggests that those who cultivate greater awareness of their energy—particularly emotional energy flowing through their physical body—develop essential skills that enhance both health and self-awareness.

This heightened awareness leads to increased self-acceptance, which boosts self-confidence. With confidence comes mental clarity, enabling individuals to align more closely with their truth (spiritual energy), which in turn amplifies creativity.

*"When people can speak their truth," Sunderland says, "they grow in self-acceptance, and this greater sense of self-love helps them maintain good health.”*

Energy Hijackers

Sometimes, we unknowingly sabotage our own energy. Sunderland explains that many people are controlled by unconscious emotions and limiting beliefs rooted in past experiences. These hidden "energy hijackers" can limit growth and reduce our ability to manage our energy effectively.

One of the key hijackers Sunderland identifies is the internal critic—an all-too-familiar voice that, when left unchecked, can drain energy and diminish potential. Recognizing and working through these limitations, Sunderland suggests, is the path to unlocking trapped energy and achieving a more balanced, fulfilled life.

At Priceless, we believe that experiences should enrich not only your time but also your energy. The more we align our energy—mentally, emotionally, and spiritually—the richer our lives become. As Sunderland so wisely reminds us, mastering our energy is about more than just success. It’s about living fully and with intention, in a way that feels truly priceless.

As a final thought, I’d like to challenge you to consider your biggest energy hijacker - The Critic. How often is the critic’s voice loud in you head? Be mindful of the critic so that you quite that voice at every opportunity and preserve the energy that makes you thrive.
